Greetings fellow creative spirits! I must start this guest post by saying how honored I am to have my thoughts included on the Creative Connection blog. What a thrill to have an opportunity to connect with like minded souls who are as passionate about being creative as I am.
I’d like to talk a bit about CREATIVITY and not only what it means to me but also how it relates to my everyday life. Of course, creativity comes in all forms and I personally dabble in as many forms of it as I can (much to the chagrin of my good-natured hubby). Scrapbooking, sewing, quilting, rubber stamping, woodworking, embroidery and paper crafts are just a few of the hobbies I dive right into with unabashed relish. I also love to test the creative waters in the kitchen every now and then for good measure, great taste and original presentation.
I’m sure you understand what I mean when I say there’s just something special, magical and I dare say necessary about creating things of beauty with your very own hands.
I love the process of taking raw materials and cutting them up, or manipulating them in some way and then rearranging those same materials to create something brand new and beautiful altogether.
There are some days when I have no particular project in mind but still have a driving need to “make” something, anything. That simple act of creating is like comfort food, it’s like a fresh breeze on a summer day or a warm cup of cocoa on a cold afternoon. Creating is one of those things that cuts right to the core of my being… and perhaps yours too.
Not every project turns out exactly as I wanted or expected but the pleasure is truly in the effort. On those occasions when a grand project comes together the way I planned it’s a source of pride and pleasure that I can share with friends and loved ones.
My need to create and share my creative process with others prompted me to start my own creative blog which I call celebrate CREATIVITY in all its forms. You can find it at www.celebrate-creativity.com. It’s a perfect venue to blend my love of crafts, writing and photography all in one place and it’s just plain, darn-tootin’ fun to write. It’s amazing to connect with other crafters and creatives who are truly on the same page. They totally get it.
Finding ways to incorporate creativity into my everyday life adds balance to an often demanding daily routine. I think we can all relate to that, right? Squeezing in an ounce of creativity here and a pound of creativity there makes me a better all-around person and a more authentic soul. I strive to nurture, protect and grow that basic and most natural instinct to MAKE STUFF. And in that grand process of making that stuff, I think I make myself better person and perhaps even the world a better place too.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to read my personal thoughts on creativity. I hope to see you face to face at the upcoming Creative Connection Event. I’ll be there with bells on and whistles too, if I can find them. Look for me and I’ll look for you too. See you then.
